The 2024 Season – New England Patriots
Ordinarily, the talk of a defending Super Bowl champion during an offseason focuses strictly on whether they can compete. In the case of the New England Patriots, that talk focused almost exclusively on the status of quarterback Tom Brady. Thomas Edward Patrick Brady, Jr., was selected with the 199th pick in the 6th round of the 2000 NFL draft. His NFL Combine were less than impressive, and he was nothing more than a flyer pick by the Pats. Brady started the 2000 season behind quarterback and All-Pro Drew Bledsoe and 2 other signal callers.

On their own 17 yard line with no timeouts and just 81 seconds left, and the score tied, Brady picked apart the Rams, spiking the ball on the St. Louis 31 with just 7 seconds left. Brady won the MVP of that Super Bowl, and went on to lead the Patriots to 4 other Super Bowl appearances heading into the 2014 season.
